My Workshop |
|
|
My first workshop was called The Dungeon, as it was in a very damp basement of my apartment
building in
Massachusetts where I was living in 1997. I used to try to make as much sawdust as possible to put
on the raw earth floor to try and get my feet out of the water.
When I moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1999 I rented a one car
garage which I turned into my workshop. This was a great space for a one
woman shop, until I started acquiring more tools than I had space for. In 2001 I met Robert, now my husband, and when we moved to our lovely new home in Duluth, Georgia my tools all went into storage. The property had a flat piece of yard which would be perfect for building a workshop. It however took us exactly 4 years to meet the requirements of the County due to the fact that we lived in the Chattahoochee River Corridor. But, we finally jumped through all the hoops and construction began in March 2006.
This is a two story building, 44' x 26'. The
bottom level is Robert's garage/workshop and the entire upstairs is my woodworking shop. That gives
me just over 1,000 sq ft of room to play in. With my previous shop being
only 200 sq ft my new shop is truly a dream workshop. If you click on the workshop
picture above it will link you to the step by step construction photos and
details of how the shop was built. |
