Granite Peak - Montana - USA

August 2002

The Geological Survey Bench Mark.

The arrow shows where Jane was waiting for the guys when they summitted.  This was a 3 hour wait on a very cold, rocky ledge, with no water.  It even started to lightly snow and the wind was blowing.  Not a nice wait.

This shows the route we took from the Snow Bridge to Base Camp.  That is a lot of rock you see there with no path to follow.  There were several cairns along the way but after it got dark these were much more difficult to spot.  John was very tired by this time and made the trek to Base Camp at a very slow pace.
