2008 - Mixed garden outside kitchen window
I mix and match this bed every year with some new annuals.  This year I planted a red-barked Japanese maple tree with a lovely purple leafed tradescantia pallida.  In front I had a couple of miniature zinnias, black-eyed Susans and ice plants.  Behind is a fan-leafed citronella, a creamy-leafed bluebeard and purple basil.  The pink to the far right is flox.

2009 Zepherin Drouhin and Nelly Mozer
In 2008 I moved my Zapherin Drouhin climbing rose to the center of this arbor.  It bloomed profusely in the spring of 2009 and could be smelt all the way across the yard.  The clematis growing on the vegetable garden fence is Nelly Mozer.

2009 - Bearded Iris
My iris's bloomed beautifully this year.  I got most of them from my mother-in-law's neighbor.  The lady had many beautiful varieties but when she passed away her husband would mow the plants down to the ground on a regular basis.  The plants therefore stopped blooming and became very small.  In 2007 I got permission to rescue them.  I got about 80 plants in all.  This is the first year that they bloomed so I could finally see what they look like.  The effort was well worth is.  I have about 12 different bloom colors.
