Custom Made Boxes: Flowers & Critters
These boxes are approximately 2" across, depending on the shape.
They are made to hold a single engagement ring.
These boxes are not available for sale. They are shown here as examples of what I can make and what you can order. For boxes that are for sale see Engagement Boxes 1 & 2.
#A1 Cherry Blossom
Square Mahogany single ring box with a cherry blossom design done in Walnut, Bloodwood, Maple with a Cherry background.
#A2 Heart Flower
A solid piece of Spalted Maple was used to make this hexagonal box with Padauk hearts and a Yellow Wood center.
#A3 Flower Inside
Unlike the box above, right, which is made of a solid piece of wood, this box is made from several pieces of wood glued together to form the sides. This box construction is more expensive than the solid hexagonal box.
#A4 Red Rose
Maple single ring box with two shades of dyed red veneer making up the rose petals. The stem runs down the front of the box in dyed green veneer, thorns and all. Adding a stem down the front will add $20 to the overall cost of the box.
#A5 Asiatic Lily
This Masur Birch box is 2" square with an Asiatic lily on the lid. Each piece of Masur Birch is different so that if you order a box made of this wood it may not look identical to the box shown here. In the next picture you can see another example of the lovely grain patterns in this wood.
#A6 Masur Birch
This shows the inside of a Masur Birch box with black velvet lining and silver plated hinges. The grain of this wood is particularly beautiful and interesting.
#A7 Pimiento Tulip 2" single ring box
This square box is made of Spalted Maple with and Olive Ash background behind the Pimiento tulip and Poplar leaves and letters. The shadows in the petals are done with sand shading.
#A8 Infinity Iris
On this hexagonal ring box the stem of the iris runs down the front of the box. This is a walnut box with dyed veneers making up the iris. There is a small, blue infinity symbol right in the middle of the flower.
#A9 Red & Gold Tulip
Square walnut box with walnut burl background behind the dyed veneers making up the tulip. This box has a domed lid. Letting the stem flow down the front of the box like the iris above would have looked nice on this box too.
#A10 Madagascar Rosewood Trillium box
The hexagonal box is made of Madagascar Rosewood with a Purpleheart background behind the trillium flower.
#A11 Rose of Sharon
A round ebony box with a Rose of Sharon flower done in bleached wood. The lettering is engraved with a laser.
#A12 Honu
Square Walnut box with Koto, Mahogany and Pearwood making up the turtle design on the lid. High gloss lacquer finish.
#A13 Ladybug
Square, domed Walnut box with French curly Walnut veneer for the background and Cherry, Ebony and Koto veneer making up the ladybug.
#A14 Ducks in a Row 2" Box
This maple box has a Madrone burl heart with ebony ducks flying in a row. Lacquer finish.
#A15 Mother of Pearl Butterfly
The wings of the butterfly are mother of pearl and bordered with dyed blue veneer. The box is spalted maple and finished with hand-rubbed Danish oil. The mother of pearl shimmers the color of the rainbow as the light catches it from different angles.
#A16 Infinity Symbol
The infinity symbol inside the lid of this spalted maple box is paua (abalone) shell on a background of holly.
