This class covers veneer selection, patterns, cutting techniques, glue-up options, inlaying, sanding and finishing.  On Saturday you will get hands-on experience making a marquetry panel and gluing it to a substrate.
Day two will start with sanding and finishing the panel.  The rest of the day will be spent doing a larger design with plenty of time to get a feel for doing marquetry with your instructor at your side.  You will leave with one finished marquetry panel and the second well on its way to becoming a beautiful piece of art.

This class will cover veneer selection, patterns, cutting techniques, glue-up options, inlaying, sanding and finishing.  No power tools are needed, just a couple of craft knives and a cutting mat, so it is an ideal hobby to get into if you have no or few woodworking tools and limited space.
In this two day class you will spend the first day creating a coaster with a marquetry picture on it by following the instructions given by Jane Burke.  On day two you will be given more freedom to work on a larger picture, which is normally when you figure out what you don't know and start asking questions.  You end up with a good basic understanding of marquetry and the confidence to head out and make marquetry pictures on your own.

Pictures in Wood - 5 Day Class

Create marquetry and inlays for furniture or framed pictures using pieces of wood veneer cut and glued together, forming works of art.  No power tools are used, as the veneer is cut with a craft knife, making it an inexpensive hobby to start.  You'll have the opportunity to make three projects and depart with an in-depth knowledge of most aspects of marquetry and inlay.  No experience necessary.
