Engagement Ring Boxes 3

On this page there are several custom boxes I made over the years for different people.  For pricing and ordering a custom box please see the next page, Ring Box Pricing.

These boxes are not available for sale. They are shown here as examples of what I can make and what you can order.

#1 Cherry Blossom
Square Mahogany single ring box with a cherry blossom design done in Walnut, Bloodwood, Maple with a Cherry background.

#2 Heart Flower
Spalted Maple hexagonal box with Padauk hearts and a Yellow Wood center.

#3 Cali Forever
I ordered a piece of manzanita burl specially to make this box as the customer wanted a species of wood that grew in California.  I then used a redwood burl background behind the "forever" character.

#4 Red Rose
Maple single ring box with two shades of dyed red veneer making up the rose petals.  The stem runs down the front of the box in dyed green veneer, thorns and all.

#5 Asiatic Lily
This masur birch box is just under 2" square with an Asiatic lily on the lid.  The shading in the flower is done with hot sand.

#6 Rose of Sharon
A round ebony box with a Rose of Sharon flower done in bleached wood.  The lettering is engraved with a laser.

#7 Pimiento Tulip 2" single ring box
This square box is made of Spalted Maple with and Olive Ash background behind the Pimiento tulip and Poplar leaves and letters.  The shadows in the petals are done with sand shading.

#8 Infinity Iris
On this hexagonal ring box the stem of the iris runs down the front of the box.  This is a walnut box with dyed veneers making up the iris.  There is a small, blue infinity symbol right in the middle of the flower.

#9 Red & Gold Tulip
Square walnut box with walnut burl background behind the dyed veneers making up the tulip.  This box has a domed lid.  Letting the stem flow down the front of the box like the iris above would have looked nice on this box too.

#10  Madagascar Rosewood Trillium box
The hexagonal box is made of Madagascar Rosewood with a Purpleheart background behind the trillium flower.

#11 Rosette
This box is made of solid Padauk, a naturally deep red wood.   The rosette is Maple Pomelle, Poplar and Madrone Burl.

#12 Damask
All sides of this box are covered with a damask pattern made of dyed black veneer and holly wood.  You can expect to pay around $430 for a box like this.

#13 Masur Birch
This shows the inside of a masur birch box with black velvet lining and silver plated hinges.  The grain of this wood is particularly beautiful.

#14 Honu
Square Walnut box with Koto, Mahogany and Pearwood making up the turtle design on the lid.  High gloss lacquer finish.

#15 Ladybug
Square, domed Walnut box with French curly Walnut veneer for the background and Cherry, Ebony and Koto veneer making up the ladybug.

#16 Square, Domed 2" Walnut box
This shows a ring in a square Walnut box with domed lid and front.

#17 Ganesh
This box is made of mahogany with a satinwood Indian elephant, Ganesh.

#18 Ducks in a Row 2" Box
This maple box has a Madrone burl heart with ebony ducks flying in a row.  Lacquer finish.

#19 Abalone / Paua heart
The heart on this box is made of a shell known as Abalone or Paua.  The shell is sliced into thin sheets which are then fused together to form a larger sheet, which makes it possible to create images up to 4" wide using the shell.

#20 Musical Ring Box

The inside of this 3 1/4" square ring box has a musical movement in it.  Note the black cushion in the front of the box which accepts the ring.  You can pick the tune it plays.

#21 Lea Magnolia 3" Walnut Box
The petals of the Magnolia are holly, which is a very white wood.  The petals have been burnt with hot sand to create the shadows.  Hand-rubbed Danish oil finish.

#22 4-sided 3" Square Walnut Box
This shows the inside of a 3" multi ring box with brown fabric insert and silver hinges.

#23 4-sided 4" Mahogany multiple ring box
This picture shows the inside of a 4" box with two slits to hold several rings.  The red dots in front are to cover Rare Earth magnets which hold the box closed.  This is only needed on boxes larger than 3".  Hot pink fabric lining.

#24 4-sided 3" Mahogany "double" ring box
This 3" box is made to hold an engagement ring and wedding band.  It can later be used to hold up to 4 rings.

#25 Sunset Surprise double ring box
This double ring box has slightly rounded corners.  It is made from a solid block of wood with a hollow to receive the rings drilled on the inside.  Mahogany box with Kevazinga background, Movingue circle, Paduak sun and Turtleback Poplar waves.

#26 Ginger Sun double ring box
Double ring box, 3" x 3" x 2".  I am able to do more intricate designs on 3" boxes as they allow more room for the design on the lid.
Tatajyva box with Movingue background, Bloodwood, Cherry and Padauk rays.

#27 Infinite Love
This rectangular box is made of Canarywood which is light yellow.  The background is Koto (used in Japan for making musical instruments) and Madrone Burl Love.  The Infinity sign is also made of Koto, with the grain running perpendicular to the background.

#28 Korean Infinite Love
Another Infinite Love box but with Love written in Korean.  If you can provide me with the text I can do it in any language.  Here the box is Mahogany, Madrone Burl background, Pearwood Infinity symbol and Maple Love.

#29 Square 2" Solid Mahogany box
This shows the inside of the square Mahogany box with square edges.

#30 Single Solid Rectangular box
This 2.5" x 1.75" Mahogany box holds a single ring.  It is mahogany with a black velvet lining and silver plated barrel hinges.  Note how the slot for the ring is cut so that a ring would lie a little forward rather than straight up.

#31 Double 3"x3" ring box
This Tatajyva box shows the cavity for two rings.  Solid 3" x 3" box.  Blue velvet lining.

#32 Sailboat
This ebony box with silver hinges and black velvet insert has a small sailboat in the inside of the lid.  As this area is only 1.25" in diameter I can only put very small, simple designs on the inside of the lid, such as this sailboat.

#33 Mother of Pearl Butterfly
The wings of the butterfly are mother of pearl and bordered with dyed blue veneer.  The box is spalted maple and finished with hand-rubbed Danish oil.  The mother of pearl shimmers the color of the rainbow as the light catches it from different angles.

#34 Infinity Symbol
The infinity symbol inside the lid of this spalted maple box is paua (abalone) shell on a background of holly.

#35 Cupcake
Square Maple box with a cupcake design on it.  The cup is fiddleback Mahogany, the cake is Birch, the chocolate icing is Walnut and a Cherry cherry. 2" solid maple box.

#36 Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada
This single ring box depicts the scene of Lake Louise as viewed from the Chateau.  I used Maple for the sky, some mystery wood for the snow-covered peaks, Walnut for the closest hill and Turtleback Poplar for the opposite hill.  I used a dyed piece of veneer for the water.

#37 3"x3" Rosewood box with orchid
Honduras Rosewood is a very deep red wood which makes a striking ring box.  The orchid is done with walnut, maple and yellow dyed veneer with a padauk border around the outside.  The edges of the box are well rounded and the lid is domed.

#38  Single 3"x3" soild ring box
This shows the inside of the 3" box for a single ring.  The box is Honduras Rosewood which has been dyed red  with silver plated hinges.

#39 4"x3" Walnut box with curved front
The lettering on this box is done with dyed blue veneer with a natural dark brown walnut burl background.  Hand-rubbed Danish oil finish.

#40 4"x3" Walnut box with curved front
Here you can see curved front of the box.  The light blue insert can hold multiple rings.

#41 Emeral D Padauk ring box
The shape of this box is the same shape as the Emeral cut stone in the ring.  The hinges are to the back as can be seen in the image to the right.

#42 Emerald D Padauk ring box

#43 Barefoot
If you have a logo or emblem you would like on the box just supply me with a picture or photograph of the image and I will do a marquetry rendering of it.

#44 Superman Ring Box
Ebony box with silver Superman symbol inlaid into the lid.  The edges of the box have been routed to create a step molding on each side.  This is quite a challenge on such a small box.

#45 Tropical Sunset
Single ring box with a tropical sunset on the lid.  The sky and water is eucalyptus and the tree fronds are turtleback poplar.  Hand-rubbed Danish oil finish.

#46 Frangipani 3" single ring box
This is a single ring box but it is 3" x 3".  I made it larger than usual to accommodate all the detail that had to go on the lid.  The box is mahogany, the background madrone and the flower and lettering is done with dyed veneers.
