Rockler & Woodworkers' Guild of Georgia contest - 1st Place
Our local Rockler store arranged a contest for Guild members. We were
given a 3 foot x 7" x 3/4" piece of maple and told to make something with it.
We were allowed to include up to 25% of additional material. As the piece
of maple was quite large I made two boxes, which I call TwoTone Celtic Star and
TwoTone Compass Rose. The brown parts are stained. The lid and base
are plywood which I veneered. The little brass pins holding the legs in
place are brass screws which I ground the heads off, leaving attractive pins.
I turned the knobs, each with a slightly different shape to match the marquetry
design. I won first place.
